Jain Biodata Maker – Create Jain Marriage Biodata Online
A Jain marriage biodata is not a generic biodata in a different colour. Families expect to see the Sect (Digambar or Shwetambar), sub-community, Gotra, Mosal (mother's family) and dietary practice at a glance, and a biodata that hides these in a text box often gets set aside in the first round. Our free Jain biodata maker gives each of them its own field. Choose a template, fill in your personal, family, community and career details, add a photo, and download a watermark-free PDF, an editable Word file or a WhatsApp-ready image in a few minutes. No login needed.

How to Make a Jain Marriage Biodata in 6 Steps
1Choose a Jain biodata template
Start with a design that suits how your family wants to present the profile: a traditional gold-bordered layout, a clean modern one for working professionals, or a minimal one that reads well on a phone. Every Jain template already includes the Sect and Gotra fields, so you don't have to add them by hand.
2Add your personal and family details
Enter name, date, time and place of birth, height, education, occupation, parents, siblings and native place. Spell your surname and native place the same way everywhere. Small mismatches are what usually trigger a follow-up call.
3Add your Jain community details
This is the part a generic biodata maker leaves out. Select your Sect (Digambar or Shwetambar, and Murtipujak, Sthanakvasi or Terapanth if it applies), your sub-community (for example Oswal, Porwal, Agarwal or Khandelwal), and your Gotra. Add the Mosal gotra, and the Dadi and Nani gotra if your community follows the 4-gotra rule. If your family uses a less common name, type it in yourself.
4Upload a clear profile photo
Use one recent portrait in natural light with a plain background, showing head and shoulders. The tool crops and places it so it fits whichever template you chose.
5Preview it on your phone
Most relatives will open your biodata on WhatsApp first. Check that nothing is cut off and that Sect, Gotra and Diet can be read at a glance.
6Download and share
Save a print-ready PDF for sharing, an editable Word file for edits, or a WhatsApp-ready image. It is free, with no watermark.
Jain Biodata Templates
Pick the design that matches how your family wants to present the profile. Each template includes Sect and Gotra fields, and you can switch between Digambar and Shwetambar wording.

Traditional Jain Biodata Template
A gold-and-maroon border with a Jai Jinendra or Navkar Mantra header and a Sect/Gotra block near the top. A good choice when the biodata will be shared through family, a pandit or a community matchmaker.

Modern Jain Biodata Template
A clean layout with muted accent colours, made for working professionals in cities like Indore, Ahmedabad, Pune and Bengaluru. Career details get room, and community fields stay easy to find.

Minimal Jain Biodata Template
One accent colour, plenty of white space and short lines. It is the easiest template to read on a phone screen.

Jain Biodata Template with Photo
The photo sits in the top corner with automatic cropping, so it fits neatly on whichever layout you choose.
Jain Marriage Biodata Format: What to Include
Here is what goes into a complete Jain biodata, in the order most families and community matchmakers expect to read it.
Personal Details
- Full name, date, time and place of birth
- Height, complexion, blood group (optional)
- Marital status: never married, divorced or widowed
- Mother tongue: Hindi, Gujarati, Marwari, Kannada or Marathi, depending on your region
Jain Religious & Community Details
- Sect: Digambar or Shwetambar
- Sub-sect / Panth: Murtipujak, Sthanakvasi or Terapanth (Shwetambar); Bispanth or Terapanth (Digambar)
- Sub-community: Oswal, Porwal, Shrimal, Agarwal, Khandelwal, Parwar, Humad, Bagherwal, Palliwal and others
- Temple tradition (optional): Derasar, Mandir or Sthanak, where relevant
Gotra & Family Details
Gotra is listed mainly so families can check that a match falls outside close blood relation. In many Jain communities it follows clan or trading lineage, not the Vedic sage lineage used in Hindu gotra. Add your own Gotra, Mosal (mother's family) gotra, and Dadi and Nani gotra if your community follows the 4-gotra rule, alongside your father's and mother's details, siblings, native place and family business background.
Education & Profession
- Highest qualification and institution
- Current occupation, company or family business, and work location
- Annual income (optional)
Lifestyle & Dietary Details
- Diet: strict Jain vegetarian (no root vegetables, no eating after sunset), lacto-vegetarian, or vegan
- Religious observance: Paryushan or Das Lakshana fasting, temple visits, Navkar Mantra recitation
- Alcohol and smoking: usually stated as "does not consume", in keeping with ahimsa
Partner Preferences & Contact Details
- Preferred sect and sub-community, or "open to other Jain families"
- Age, height and education range
- Guardian's contact number (primary), personal number and email
Jain Biodata Format for Boy
When preparing a specialized biodata format for boy, the sections are the same as in a girl's biodata. What changes is where the reader's attention goes: career and family background are read first, so state them clearly.
Education & career
"Manager, family textile business, Indore" reads stronger than "Private job". Give designation, company or business, and work location. Income is optional but often expected upfront in a boy's biodata.
Family background
Father's occupation, the family business (if any) and native place. Jain families often weigh business stability and reputation heavily when reviewing a boy's side.
Community details
Put Sect, sub-community and Gotra plainly near the top, since same-sect matches are still where most families begin.
Partner expectations
Keep it short and realistic: preferred sect, education level and family values, written respectfully.
Jain Biodata Format for Girl
Use the same sections as above, with equal detail in the personal section.
Education & career
Mention your qualification (CA, MBA, medicine, tech) and your current work. If you plan to continue working after marriage, say so. It saves both families a round of questions later.
Family background
Father's and mother's occupation, siblings, native place, and an optional line about family values.
Community details
Sect, sub-community and Gotra, presented exactly as in a boy's biodata. Don't abbreviate this section because it's a girl's profile.
Partner expectations
Be specific about age range, location flexibility and the qualities that matter to you, instead of a long list of physical preferences.
What to leave out of a Jain biodata
- •Your full home address on a PDF that will be forwarded (a city or area is enough)
- •A girl's personal number, if the family prefers the guardian to be the first contact
- •Aadhaar, PAN, passport or any ID numbers
- •A long list of conditions or demands
- •Claims you can't back up (job title, income, property)
To understand common pitfalls that cause proposals to be skipped, read our guide on why biodatas get rejected.
Partner expectations: three examples you can adapt
What Makes a Jain Biodata Different?
A Jain marriage biodata carries the community's core values, which are ahimsa (non-violence), vegetarianism and religious identity, through a handful of fields a generic format doesn't ask for.
Jain biodata terms explained
| Term | What it means | What to write |
|---|---|---|
| Sect | The main tradition: Digambar or Shwetambar | Both. Don't write only "Jain", because a vague entry often gets skipped in the first round |
| Sub-sect / Panth | Murtipujak, Sthanakvasi, Terapanth (Shwetambar); Bispanth, Terapanth (Digambar) | Only if your family follows one |
| Sub-community (Jati) | Oswal, Porwal, Agarwal, Khandelwal, Parwar, Humad and others | Your community name |
| Gotra | Clan or lineage name used to check that a match is outside close blood relation | Your own Gotra |
| Mosal / Nanihal | The mother's parental family | The family name and its Gotra |
| Dadi / Nani gotra | The paternal and maternal grandmother's family Gotra | Only if your community follows the 4-gotra rule |
| Atak / surname | The family or trade surname, which is often different from Gotra | Keep it separate from Gotra |
| Kundli / Manglik | Used by some families, ignored by others | One line, for example "Kundli available" |
| Chovihar | Not eating or drinking after sunset | Add it under Diet if you follow it |
What is the 4-gotra rule in Jain marriage?
Many Jain communities, including Agarwal, Oswal and Khandelwal families, avoid marriage where any of four gotras overlap: the boy's and girl's own gotra, the mother's gotra, the paternal grandmother's (Dadi) gotra, and the maternal grandmother's (Nani) gotra. Some families follow only two or three, so use whatever your family follows. If your biodata lists all four, the other side can check compatibility at a glance.
Digambar vs Shwetambar: what changes in the biodata
The core sections stay the same. The differences are mostly in wording:
- Temple word: Digambar families usually say Mandir or Jinalaya, and Shwetambar families say Derasar.
- Fasting terms: Shwetambar biodatas mention Paryushan, Athai and Samvatsari. Digambar biodatas mention Das Lakshana Parva.
- Sub-tradition: Murtipujak, Sthanakvasi or Terapanth for Shwetambar. Bispanth or Terapanth for Digambar.
- Opening line: "Jai Jinendra" or the Navkar Mantra suits both.
Why the diet line matters
Strict Jain vegetarianism (no root vegetables, no eating after sunset) shapes daily life so much that most biodatas state it explicitly. Writing "Strict Jain vegetarian, Chovihar" is clearer than a general "vegetarian" label.
Family and native place
Business background carries particular weight given the community's trading history. Native place (Marwar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra—where families often use our Marathi biodata maker—or Karnataka) often signals which regional customs and preferred sub-community matches apply.

How to Edit Your Jain Marriage Biodata in Microsoft Word
Whether you are opening the downloaded .docx file in Microsoft Word (2010–2026), Google Docs, or WPS Office, follow these steps to keep the typography aligned and culturally authentic.
1. Standard Page Margins & Single-Page Layout
Set your page size to A4 with 0.75-inch (1.9 cm) to 1.0-inch (2.54 cm) margins on all sides. Jain biodatas are traditionally kept to a concise single page so prospective families can scan Gotra, Sect, career, and family background in under one minute.
2. Structuring the 4-Gotra Lineage
List the four standard Gotras in clear sequence: Self Gotra (Paternal), Maternal Gotra (Mosal), Dadi Gotra (Paternal Grandmother), and Nani Gotra (Maternal Grandmother). This establishes family compatibility without confusion.
3. Highlighting Maternal Relatives (Mosal & Nanasa)
In Jain matrimonial customs, mentioning your Maternal Grandfather (Nanasa) and Maternal Uncle (Mamosa) along with their business or city carries significant social prestige. Place these under the Family Background or Extended Relatives block.
4. Articulating Ahimsa & Dietary Practices
Rather than writing a generic "Vegetarian" label, state your practice clearly: Strict Jain Vegetarian (strictly no root vegetables/kandmool, Chovihar / sunset dinner preferred). This clarity avoids unnecessary misunderstandings during initial family matchmaking talks.
Use the editable Word (.docx) file on your computer to collaborate with family members and adjust text. Once finalized, export to PDF format before sending on WhatsApp or email to lock your fonts, margins, and photo placement across all mobile phones.
Common problems when editing a Jain biodata in Word
Use Mangal or Noto Sans Devanagari, and keep the font the same throughout.
Set the picture's wrapping to "Square" or "In front of text" and then move it.
Export to PDF before you share. That locks the fonts and margins.
Reduce the margins to 0.75 inch and trim optional lines such as blood group.
Jain Biodata Examples
Here is how the fields above come together in practice. These are fictional examples. Copy them as-is or adapt them.
Jain Boy Biodata (Shwetambar, Oswal)
Jain Girl Biodata (Digambar, Agarwal)
Jain Girl Biodata (Shwetambar, Oswal)
Modern Jain Biodata Sample
A minimal, single-accent-colour layout with short bullet lines throughout — Sect and Gotra stated in one line near the top, career details given more space than religious details, suited to urban professionals in IT, finance, or medicine.
Traditional Jain Biodata Sample
Opens with "Jai Jinendra," uses a gold or maroon border, and gives the Sect/Gotra/Community block its own visually distinct section before personal details — the format most families still ask for when the biodata is being shared through a priest or community matchmaker.
